What is the New Medicine Service?
The New Medicine Service (NMS) is a free NHS service. It provides you with the opportunity to sit down with our pharmacist and discuss a new prescription medication.
What does the appointment involve?
During the appointment our pharmacist will discuss how to take the new medication, ways in which you can fit the treatment round your lifestyle, potential side effects and any concerns you may have.
The pharmacist will also arrange two further appointments, either face to face or over the phone, to see how you get on with the medication.
How can I make an appointment?
You can ask to book an appointment with our pharmacist if you have been prescribed a new medication for:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Blood thinning
If our pharmacist thinks you would benefit from the NMS, she may invite you in for an appointment.
